Want to learn a new trade, and earn a paycheck while you learn? Apprenticeships are a great way to advance your career, and are available in a variety of industries. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has launched apprenticeshipevolution.com, a website providing information on apprenticeships in Colorado. According to the site, 9 out of 10 apprentices find a job after completing their apprenticeship. Many opportunities for youth apprentices, including high school students, are also available. Apprenticeship Evolution can be used to find programs, connect with workforce centers, and learn about how apprenticeships work.
The website also includes a section for employers. Included here is information on how to launch a registered apprenticeship program at your workplace; what you need to know when developing a program; and more.
Apprenticeships are just one form of on-the-job learning. CDLE’s Colorado Workforce Development Council has a list of resources on their website for exploring other work-based learning opportunities, such as internships, mentoring, credit for prior work, on-the-job training, pre-apprenticeships, and workstudy. The site includes resources for specific industries; certification information; links to job websites; and tools for employers.
