As more and more land gets developed, these cute little critters are becoming endangered. Because prairie dogs are (or at least, used to be) one of the most visible species of wildlife along the front range, the Colorado Division of Wildlife has published a number of guides to these little animals. Available from our library:
- A Prairie Dog Home Companion
- Black-Tailed Prairie Dog Study of Eastern Colorado
- Native Species of Colorado: Black-Tailed Prairie Dog
- Prairie Dog Management and Wildlife Protection
Also, see the following publications regarding Colorado’s endangered wildlife:
- Conservation Plan for Grassland Species in Colorado
- Wildlife in Danger
- Teaming with Wildlife
- Threatened and Endangered Species of Colorado
- Essential Habitat for Threatened or Endangered Wildlife in Colorado
- Wildlife Species Threatened & Endangered List
