New Creations

Poudre Libraries wants to help you Digitize Your Photos on November 4 at Harmony Library. Get one-on-one help and learn how to use their EZ Scanner to create and save digital copies of your photos.

As part of their First Friday Food series on November 1, Aurora Public Library asks: Will it Waffle? Teens will use their creativity to test the waffle-ability of ingredients from cheese sticks to chocolate bars.

Mesa County Libraries invites you to learn how to Create Seamless Patterns in Photoshop on November 4 at 970West Studio. Seamless tiling patterns can be used for wallpaper, textiles, graphic design, and more.

Durango Public Library’s Page One Writing Contest opens on November 1 and runs through November 30th. Submit the first page of your novel, short story, or other creative work. Winners will be announced in December and their works aired on local radio stations KDUR and KSUT.

NaNoWriMo

In November, many libraries participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) by hosting events to support new and longtime writers in their communities. Here is a sampling of what’s on offer:

  • Lafayette Public Library is holding a November Writing Challenge for a chance to win prizes and have your work featured on their blog.
  • High Plain Library District’s NaNoWriMo Kickoff Party is November 5 at Centennial Park Library.
  • Garfield County Libraries’ weekly NaNoWriMo Write-ins will include fellowship, motivational speeches, and will be capped off by a Writers’ Soiree on December 5.
  • East Morgan County Library District is hosting NaNoWriMo Write-Ins with drinks, snacks, and prizes on November 4, 9, and 14.

Estes Valley Library is holding a Winter Reading Kickoff Party for tweens and teens on November 7 at 5:00 pm. The event will feature gaming, crafts, food, and of course signing up for the Winter Reading Program.

Nederland Community Library is putting on their 1st Annual just-for-fun Fall Kids Talent Show on November 6 at 5:00 pm. Children from 2-8 years old will have 3 minutes each to perform or demonstrate a special skill.

Security Public Library’s Annual Fall Festival and Craft Fair is November 2 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Enjoy activities for all ages, storytimes by the fire, a photo booth, food trucks, and lots of local crafters selling their wares.
