Read to the Children
These are examples of recordings made by Colorado offenders as part of the Read to the Children (RTC) program, a partnership between the Colorado State Library's Institutional Library Development and the Colorado Department of Corrections Libraries.
The program, currently available at all 22 Department of Corrections facility libraries, helps offenders stay involved in their children's lives by encouraging their children to read.
Books for the Read to the Children program mostly come from donations from generous organizations and individuals. If you or your organization would be interested in donating children’s books to support the Read to the Children program, contact ILD staff at institutional_libraries@cde.state.co.us .
