Colorado State Library has partnered with Colorado Humanities and Center for the Book to create a “booktasting” kit for libraries that feature the winners of the 2024 Colorado Book Awards.
The Book Tasting Colorado Book Awards Resource Kit provides a program-in-a-box featuring award-winning books from Colorado authors for youth and adult audiences in a variety of genres. The first of these kits celebrates the winners of the 2024 Colorado Book Awards.
Each year, the Colorado Book Awards honor titles of excellence published by Colorado authors. Volunteer selectors and judges read through hundreds of titles submitted to Colorado Humanities and Center for the Book. From those winners, two books are further chosen to represent the state among the finalists for the National Book Festival’s Great Reads from Great Places award.
Books included in the 2024 edition of this kit are:
- Anthology: Reading Colorado: A Literary Road Guide
- Poetry: How You Walk Alone in the Dark
- Short Story: Uranians
- Creative Nonfiction: Losing Music: A Memoir
- General Nonfiction: So Much Stuff
- History: Women of the Colorado Gold Rush Era
- Historical Fiction: To Die Beautiful
- Novel: The Applicant
- Romance: Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other
- Mystery: Blood Betrayal
- Science Fiction/ Fantasy: Dark Moon Shallow Sea
- Thriller: No Child of Mine
Additionally, each Book Tasting the Colorado Book Awards Resource Kit includes:
- All essential materials for running a book-tasting program at your library;
- A single copy of each of the Colorado Book Award winning titles for the stated year;
- Information about Author Talks from Colorado Humanities and Center for the Book for low-to-no-cost author visits and talks from the featured authors;
- Contact information for partners and authors
To request this kit, you need to be enrolled in the CSL Kits program. Your kit account is the same as your Book Club Resource account, if you participate in that program. If you already have a CSL Book Club user number and password, skip to step 4 below.
- Fill out and submit the enrollment form.
- You will receive an email with a user number and password.
- Go to the catalog at https://csl.catalog.aspencat.info/
- Login into your CSL account using the “Login” button at the top right of the screen.
- Use the Search bar, or browse for “Resource Kit” to find the Kit you want to borrow.
- Place a Hold on the desired kit.
