The Castlewood Canyon Flood of 1933

90 years ago today

Today marks the 90th anniversary of one of the worst floods in Denver History. On August 3, 1933 torrential rains caused the Castlewood Canyon Dam to break, and sent water rushing along Cherry Creek into the heart of Denver. Two lives were lost, and several bridges and building were destroyed.
