Many of Colorado’s community colleges offer summer programs for children, where they can visit campus and take kid-friendly classes on a variety of fun topics, learn new skills, and exercise their creativity. For example, Northeastern Junior College (Sterling) offers Kids College, where elementary school kids can participate in activities like tennis lessons, cooking classes, and acting classes; learn outdoor survival skills; and even learn how to investigate a crime scene! Registration is just $5-$30 depending on the class, and some of the classes are free.
Aims Community College in Greeley, Fort Lupton, and Loveland also offers College for Kids. The programs last one week, and the $75 tuition gets kids two classes, food, and college gear.
Arapahoe Community College in Littleton offers Summer Youth Camps. Kids grades 3 through 12 can take art classes, fitness classes, and workshops on computer programming, coding, and video-game making. There’s even a class on “fun with drones!”
Pueblo Community College offers Kids’ College, with a variety of classes such as archery, babysitting training, maker labs, Ooey Gooey Science, beginning machining and welding, and more.
Summer camps are also available at Colorado Northwestern Community College, Morgan Community College, and Pikes Peak Community College.
